#SDCC2022 - Marvel's Multiverse Saga

Basement Dwellers... The Multiverse Saga is upon us. After allowing the Marvel San Diego Comi-Con Hall H Panel digest. boy do we have a lot to cover. We here at Basement Protocol will break down the announcements Phase by Phase and cover those who were in attendance, the projects announced and speculate where we may be going in the next Marvel Saga.

PHASE 4

Part of the Hall H panel was to establish the boundaries and phases of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Kevin Fiege took to the stage to definitively place those markers. Phase 4 will officially come to a close on November 11th 2022 with Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. That the phase was ultimately a reactionary phase to the Infinity Saga. We were lucky enough to get trailers for the final two entries into Phase Four, She-Hulk and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.

She-Hulk (August 17th 2022)

The highly anticipated Disney + series She-Hulk drops in a little over 3 weeks and so many questions as to how Jennifer Walters fits into the overall MCU. Our questions have started to be answered with the latest trailer drop at comic con. From a heavily featured Bruce and Wong to the surprise Daredevil appearance at the end, the trailer did what it was supposed to do to get us hyped for the series. Check out the trailer below.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (November, 11th 2022)

The biggest question in the MCU is how does Marvel handle the real life untimely passing of Chadwick Boseman. Black Panther: Wakanda Forever dropped a trailer at Comic-Con and was pulling at the heart strings. It was confirmed T'Challa has passed and the story is being used to say good bye to Chadwick while also dealing with the debut of Namor the Submariner played by Tenoch Huerta and the debut of Riri Williams (IronHeart), played by Dominique Thome . A new Black Panther will rise, presumably Shuri, and more in this upcoming cinematic endcap of Phase 4. Check out the trailer below!

PHASE 5

Phase Five has been fully planned out Kicking off with AntMan & Wasp: Quantumania on February 17th 2022 and capping off with the ensemble film Thunderbolts July 28th 2024. Phase 5 will continue the stories of various heroes from Phase 4 as well as the end for The Guardians! Let's break down each announcement!

AntMan & Wasp: Quantumania (February 17th 2023)

The team behind the film were on site for AntMan & Wasp: Quantumania According to Paul Rudd, Scott Lang is relishing in the fact he helped save the Universe and is an author at the beginning of this movie. Director Peyton Reed explained that a good portion of the movie will be spent in the Quantum Realm. Other news that came from the panel was Kathryn Newton will assume the role of Cassie Lang, Bill Murray has been casted in an undisclosed role that recognizes Janet Van Dyne, and M.O.D.O.K. will make his MCU debut. Jonathan Majors will reprise his role as a variant of Kang the Conqueror and confront Scott and Hope in this film. Footage was shared with those in attendance but the moment it becomes public we will be sure to bring it to you the Basement Dwellers!

Secret Invasion (Spring 2023)

Not much was said about this upcoming series, it did bring out Cobbie Smulders who shared a clip of Nick Fury in the series. It was also announced Don Cheadle will be joining the up coming series about the Skrulls and their invasion!

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 (May 5th 2023)

The Guardians were on on hand for the presentation of Guardians of The Galaxy Vol. 3. The end of the Guardians Era is coming as pointed out by director, James Gunn, and that even though it is the end not all characters have to die. The story will feature the back story of Rocket and why he is in fact the saddest character in the universe. It will also feature the debut of Adam Warlock, played by Will Poulter, The High Evolutionary, played by Chukwui Iwuji and Maria Bakalova as Cosmo the Space Dog. The movie will additionally explore Gamora leading the ravagers as they wind down our current version of The Guardians of the Galaxy.

Echo (Summer 2023)

Nothing was mentioned about this series in Hall H aside from the expected air date. We do know how ever that Charlie Cox and Vincent D'Onofrio will reprise their roles of Daredevil and Kingpin in the series.

Loki Season 2 (Summer 2023)

Presumably this series will continue to explore the Kang Dynasty and the events set in motion of season 1. Given this is the only green-lit live action Marvel Disney + series, Loki has some stories still to be told and is currently in production.

The Marvels (July 25th 2023)

Nothing new has been revealed about this movie at this time. I would expect info about this film at the D23 Convention in September.

Blade (November 3 2023)

The highly anticipated return of Blade to the big screen finally received a release date. Hopefully will get some action/answers out of Kit Harrington's Dane Whitman as well.

IronHeart (Fall 2023)

Riri Williams will make her debut in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, hopefully the movie will set up the series due out less than a year after Black Panther's release.

Agatha: Coven of Chaos (Winter 2023/2024)

The series has been renamed from House of Harkness to Coven of Chaos. Hopefully this explores the true fate of Wanda Maximoff while expanding a version of the underworld we have yet to see in the MCU.

Daredevil: Born Again (Spring 2024)

Charlie Cox is back as Daredevil for 18 episodes, you heard that right... 18 Episodes. Vincent D'Onofrio will also reprise his role of Kingpin yet again.

Captain America: New World Order (May 3rd 2024)

"Whether You Like It Or You Don't, Learn To Love It, Cause It's The Best Thing Going Today". I may be quoting nWo from the world of wrestling but I think it applies to when Sam takes the mantel as Cap in his first solo movie... conveniently before the Thunderbolts.

Thunderbolts (July 28th 2024)

Lots of questions about this movie. Are they the Masters of Evil? Are they the Dark Avengers? Is this what Valentina has been up to the entire time? Either way this ensemble movie will cap off Phase 5!

PHASE 6

Phase Six was presented to the MCU fans with very limited information, I assume the rest of Phase six will be revealed in September at D23... gotta save some stuff for there right? How ever we did get some dates to movies. Fantastic Four which was announced last year finally has a date of November 8, 2024, Plus Avengers: The Kang Dynasty May 2nd 2025 and Avengers Secret Wars Nov 7th 2025. There are also 8 other projects yet to be announced for Phase 6 but boy does the future look fun and exciting for the Marvel Cinematic Universe!
