King Of The Hill Season 14 Review

King of The Hill Season 14

Hey, hey, hey Basement Dwellers! The Dace Man is back with another review, or I guess more so recap, and thought process from the world of entertainment! Today The Dace Man looks at full season drop of King of the Hill and it’s return for a 14th season after a fifteen-year hiatus!

Now I'm sure there's probably an assumption that I was going to break down episode by episode for king of the hill and to be honest with you I initially wanted to, but overall, King of the Hill is easily reviewable through overview rather than episodic breakdown. If Hulu wanted me to break it down episode by episode they would have released it episode by episode but instead, they dropped everything on August 4th and yours truly binged watched it as one does with an animated comedy very loosely.

Hank Hill and Dale Gribble
Dale kidnaps Hank

The series kicks off with Hank hill returning to Arlington TX for the first time in nearly 15 years after working in Saudi Arabia converting them over to propane that in and of itself is an amazing job considering they're one of the largest exporters of oil. All the kids within the series such as Connie Joseph and Bobby have all grown up and are in their 20s so going through their college years and Bobby is chef at his own restaurant. Upon hank's return we learned that he is retired, and he is no longer in the propane business but still has his propane beliefs Dale is crazier than ever bill has succumbed to his overeating but Ben's back through one would assume an Ozempic diet and Boomhauer is Boomhauer.

Throughout the season we get to look at Mike Judge’s view on how to take an Arlington TX man such as Hank  and integrate him into a 2025 scenario. You get your typical jokes such as what to do with the gender issue political views the Republican Party as it stands today and Hanks all of a sudden love for the game of soccer after being in Saudi Arabia for so long. Dale has seemed to jump further into the conspiracy theorist role and has it gotten any more aggressive with it he was peeking and growing towards a boiling point in the original run of the series but now he seems like he's completely over the top having been the mayor for a little bit and then resigning because of a conspiracy theory that he was going to get taken out as mayor.

An unfortunate thing that did occur during this series filming is several voice actors from the original cast of passed away for example Johnny Hardwick unfortunately passed away at the age of 64 and was only to record a few episodes before his passing Toby Huss who does other characters within the series took over the role of Dale going forward. The team also decided to cast Ronnie Chang as the voice of Khan rather than Toby Huss to tone down the racial controversy that was around the character of Khan. The cast also added Keith David as the character Brian Robertson and brown and a few additional voice actors to replace the younger ones that had aged out. In another sad event when it comes to the casting of king of the hill Jonathan Joss was unfortunately murdered during recording of the King of the Hill season and he is notable for his role as John Redcorn.

In addition to the actors that passed away during the filming of season 14 there were a few other actors who had passed away prior to the recording of season 14 such as Brittany Murphy who voiced the role of Luanne Platter and musician Tom Petty who voiced the role of Lucky Kleinschmidt. In addition to those two characters the fates of Chuck Mangione, Luanne, and Lucky were not answered this season. The series did however show us the fate of GH or good Hank as well as good hank's mother to still be alive and well Following the passing of Cotton.

The series itself was a fun run and a good 14th season overall with 10 episodes that aired on one shot on Hulu.

Bobby, Peggy and Hank Hill
The Hill Family

The good news is if you're a King of the Hill fan it has been renewed for a 15th season ahead of the release that dropped on August 4th and the Hills will be back for another run. Having been a student of the animation Sundays on FOX network when I was a kid King of the Hill unfortunately was one of my least favorite programs that aired on that night but the series is much better as an adult and understanding a lot of jokes that probably went over my head as a kid so I will give this season 7 out of 10 stairs.
